Meeting Minutes

Minutes
of General Debate Meeting, August 17, 2004
Date: Tuesday August 17, 2004
Location: Room 5084, SITE, University of Ottawa
The meeting was held with 21 attendees.
1. A brief summary of all the previous
gatherings of the group to date was read.
2. Mitra Tayareh and Bahram Zahir have
been selected to run the session and to prepare the minutes of the
meeting.
3. The agenda of the day has been read and
accepted.
4. We agreed to create a temporary
executive team for the first six months in our next gathering (to be
held in late September).
5. We stepped through the details of the
draft of the constitution. We polled for some issues. Here are the
minutes of the group suggestions, agreements or disagreements in the
meeting.
Add “to seek the Iranian culture” to the group goals in Section 2.
No decision made on this.
Change name of the group to “Canadian Society of Iranian Professionals”
rather than “Canadian society of Iranian engineers”
Most of the attendees agreed to keep the name of the group as is for the
following reasons:
To arrange the goals of a smaller and more specific group is easier at
the beginning.
With having engineer members, the group will have more particular goals.
Have the Internet referendum option for poll
Again, most of the members disagreed to have Internet referendum for
polling because:
 | It needs a complicated mechanism to provide
fair polling and give everyone an equitable share of the system.
|
 | Our purpose of this group is to meet in person, so it’s
better to give our idea in person too. |
